NEW - Creative Textural exploration

Creative and Textural Exploration

Our creative curriculum is designed to encourage children to express themselves while developing fine motor skills and sensory awareness. Activities include sand and water play, playdough, painting, cutting, and pasting. These experiences are carefully structured to nurture creativity while promoting coordination and concentration. Children are also introduced to a variety of textural materials, such as lentils, tissue papers, smooth and rough surfaces, and natural elements including leaves, feathers, and tree bark. These exercises help children identify and differentiate textures, fostering a deep connection with the natural world around them. By engaging with different materials, children develop sensory discrimination and a heightened awareness of their environment, laying the groundwork for cognitive and observational skills.

NEW - Practical Life Skills for Independence

Practical Life Skills for Independence

The Practical Life segment of our curriculum empowers children to care for themselves and their surroundings with confidence. Activities such as polishing, washing, buttoning, and arranging objects cultivate responsibility, self-discipline, and concentration. As Maria Montessori famously stated, “Never help a child with a task with which he can succeed.” This philosophy underpins our approach, allowing children to develop independence while enhancing their cognitive and motor skills. Practical life exercises form the foundation of the Montessori experience, teaching children to master everyday tasks and understand the value of self-sufficiency.

NEW - Sensorial - Drop Down Montessori Programme'Look the baby cube goes here!

Sensorial Development for Early Cognition

Sensorial activities at Ballinteer Montessori School allow children to explore and classify their impressions through touch, sight, smell, taste, and sound. The Montessori sensorial materials are designed to bring order to a child’s mind, enhancing awareness, observation, and critical thinking. For example, children who work with the Geometric Cabinet develop the ability to identify shapes and patterns in the real world. One child observed that his cat’s eyes were like an ellipse, demonstrating how sensorial exercises encourage the formation of mental images and the application of knowledge to everyday life.
